Gastric bypass and alcohol

Dear Ask The Doctor: What would happen if i drank a little alcohol 5 days before my gastric bypass?

Dear Harley: I am not sure what you define as "a little alcohol". However, it is illegal in most countries for persons under the age of 18 years to consume or purchase alcohol. 

The consumption of 1-2 glasses of red wine will have no negative effect on you surgical procedure. Anymore alcohol will cause inflammation of the liver and could negatively affect your body's bility to cope with the surgery.
