Can i get the bird flu eating turkey?

Dear Ask The Doctor: Is there even the slightest chance of getting bird flu by eating turkey. My uncle told me this at christmas dinner the other day and I am now scared.

Dear Ryan: There is no documented case of acquiring the bird flu from eating a cooked turkey.  Most cased of Bird flu have wither been transmitted from human to human, live bird to human or recently dead bird to human.  We believe the cooking process helps to kill the virus.

enjoy your Turkey.
