Increased sweating due to weight

DEAR ASK THE DOCTOR: About 10 yrs ago I noticed increased sweating. It usually is on my face and head causing my make-up to run off my face and my hair is as wet as when I get out of shower.  I'd say that the sweat under my armpits and the rest of my body seems to be a little more normal.  It's awful!  I can be drenched in less than a minutes time.  It doesn't matter the temperature outside.  It can be ten below and I still run the a/c when I get in car and I never wear a coat (in missouri).  Needless to say, every time I walk into any business or social function, all I can think about is how many times I am going to have to wipe my face and hairline or how everyone is watching me sweat perfusely.  It often causes me to be distacted and cut business short or leave functions early. I can't remember the last day the I didn't sweat, probably in my mid twenties. I have talked with my dr. and she blames it on my weight.  Honestly, I know my body.  I know I have put on some lbs. since my husband became a parapelegic 3 and 1/2 years ago, however this sweating was starting to get increasingly worse before the weight gain.  Don't get me wrong, I know the added weight is not good for me.  I am trying to get it off and have lost twenty lbs.  I currently weight about 220.  My main problem is how much this sweating controls my life.  Last year I found out that I have hypothyroidism and I now take Sythroid 50 mcg qd.  At first I was thrilled to be on the medicine, because I know your thyroid being out of wack can control weather you are hot or cold, your weight, etc.  But after being on the medicine almost a year, I have had no changes in sweating.  Its funny, because don't most people with hypothyroidism complain of freezing all the time, not sweating?  I have done as much research on the subject as possible online, but keep getting road blocks.  There is definitely something wrong with my sweating and I just want to be able to control it.  I sweat more going into the gym that most prople walking out.  I sweat more than 2,3, or 4 hundred lbs people.  I'm becoming a much lazier person, because any little movement  (ie walking across the room) could potentially trigger the sweat and then my hair looks wet the rest of day.  I have one more thing to add.  I don't know if sweating perfusely can be inherited, but I do know my father and his mother used to complain of this.  My father often talked of how easy he could break a sweat in the winter.  His mother often talked of going outside to the snow barefoot to get cool.  They were both normal in weight. Somedays I feel like beating my head against the wall.  I can't go into Wal-mart without coming out drenced.  Please point me in the right direction with this issue. thanks
