Black stools w/ Xenical intake?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have taken some slimming tablets called Xenical 120mg and i am losing some black oily discharge each time i go to open my bowels. I started this on Monday this week and in total have only taken 6 tablet. Since yesterday i have been experience stomach cramps and losing this black oily stubstance. I wanted to check this was normal and nothing to worry about. I have spoken to others who have taken this and they only lose yellow oil discharge not black hence my concern. i would be really grateful for your help

I would suggest you stop taking Xenical for now and consult a doctor. Oily stools and cramps are common side effects of Xenical. The black stools you are having may be a benign condition or due to high iron intake but just have it checked by your doctor to be sure there is no bleeding in your intestines, or worse, colon cancer.
