Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been recently treated for Chlamydia, (shot and 2 tablets), and the doctor told me not to have sex until 14 days and my discharge was clearing up and everything no problem. My boyfriend went and got tested and then at the same time got treated just in case he did have it and a day later after his treatment we have had sex. It has been a month since I have got treated and I have lower back pain, adbominal pain (cramping), and every now and then some discharge but it does not smell. Do I still have Chlamydia?
Dear Terra: I realize your concern about Possible Genitourinary infection. In my opinion, I would suggest you to rule out other possibilities first. Certainly the symptoms may resemble some present in Chlamydia infection, but conditions like Urinary Tract Infections might need to be ruled out with a simple Urine test, and this would also guide your doctor for the possibility of other situations. Now since you mention discharge, probabilities of Candidiasis or other entities might need to rule out as well. If the symptoms persist, consult your Gynecologist as soon a possible, since this could be the start of a new genital infection. I wish you a prompt recovery. Watch for signs of Fever, itching, burning while urinating and vaginal discharge, if any of these happens please seek immediate attention. I wish you a prompt recovery. |
