Dear Ask The Doctor: My partner(Male) went to the doctor today. For testicular discomfort. He then called me telling me it may be Chlamydia. Which he may have passed on to me. I am the bottom in our sexual relationship. He was telling me to get checked out bc I may also have Chlamydia. It may be present with no sign or symptoms. Is this true? Please help or give explanation. Thanks so much
Dear Noah: In chlamydia, 50% of all cases may not have symptoms. This is why we recommend regular routine STD testing in sexually active individuals. In my practice, I advise my patients STD testing every 6 months in monogamous non committed relationships and additional testing prior to beginning any new relationships.
The appropriate course of action in this case is to: 1/see your doctor 2/request treatment for chlamydia 3/request testing for other STD's 4/Follow up for a "test of cure" as advised by your doctor. |
