Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been having a sore throat almost daily for almost 2 years. I don't get any pain in my chest, but do have weird burps. I have have almost every test there is. Went last week to get the PH and mobiliy tests. After the nurse tried to get the tube down my throat for over 15 mins I had to give up. I think I really need these tests, but not sure if I can go through with that again. Not sure what I can do. Is there other options? I also have found that I have white pus that comes out of the top holes in my tonsils. Can acid make the tonsils throb. I know I aksed a few questions. Not sure how much more of this I can take. This has also been hard on me cause I use my voice for a living.
Dear Robin: I realize your concern about your persistent sore throat. I totally agree with you that the PH test that your health care provider tried on you is very important and should be taken. Unfortunately this is the confirmatory test to rule out Reflux disease, if you say that you had all the other tests taken. My suggestion will be to try to take the test once again to rule out this possibility.
In the meantime you could also can take care of this by lifestyle changes such as weight loss, small meals, eat 3 hours before bedtime, smoking cessation and avoidance of fatty meals, Sweets, spicy foods, alcohol, peppermint and coffee. I wish you a prompt recovery. |
