Excessive sweaty palms.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi there. My brother has had this problem for a while now. He is 11 years old and he constantly sweats through his hands. It's really uncomfortable and it seems to happen at the worst times. I was wondering if there's ANY cure at all like surgery or anything. Thank you very much and I hope to hear back soon.

Dear Mo:Your brother's condition is called Palmar Hyperhidrosis. There are both surgical and non-surgical treatment available to treat this condition.

Essentially, there are medications called antichlinergics which may be able to help but tend to have significant side effects.  Botox injections have also been shown to be helpfull and would be requuired every 6 months as opposed to daily.

There is also a surgical procedure which is aimed at the nerves which which supply the sweat glands but this too may have serious side effects. Your brother and your parents will need to discuss the treatment option in detail with a doctor.
