Dear Ask The Doctor: My son has craniostynosis. He had two operations when small. It is about 5 years later and he still gets scars and bleeding on the incisions on his head. Is this normal after such a long period of time?
Dear Michelle: This is not a normal situation. There are some cases in which cranistenosis (craniosynostosis) recurrs after surgery and perhaps this is the case with your son. You should have him examined by a neurosurgeon to rule out this possibility. there is also the chance that this is a new problem alltoghter which will require investigation and appropriate treatment. |
