Dear Ask The Doctor: I have had a complete knee replacement the doc told me to take an antibiotic before I see a dentist. ok the question is I am pron to sinus infection would there be problems for the knee while I have the infection will I notice
Dear Kim: If you have a sinus infection this should not affect your knee prosthesis. However you should seek medical attention and get appropriate treatment. Your doctor has advised antibiotics before dental surgery as there is risk of bacteria getting into the blood stream during a dental procedure and subsequently infecting the knee prosthesis. Antibiotics before surgery reduces this risk greatly. |
