Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello, Im 14 years old and yesterday I just found out that I have a small lump in my right side of the neck...it does not hurt and not visible but it makes my right side of the neck feel like its swollen and unconfortable. For last 2 weeks, I have been traveling and sitting in a car seat with air conditioner with air flowing at my face. I think it may be some kind of infection but I want to make sure that its nothing serious. Thank you.
Dear Vlad: Without a physical examination I cannot say for certain the cause of the swelling. However, the most likelt scenario is that you have a throat infection and a lymph node (glands) in the neck has become swollen. When the infection resolves the lymph node swelling will disappear. You should see a doctor to confirm this and get treatment for your infection. |
