Over the counter Anti inflammatory

Dear Ask The Doctor: Can you take Advil and Aleve at the same time for chronic pain? I do not want to take prescription pain relivers and Advil or Aleve alone is not enough.
Dear Bill: It is not recommended take “advil” and “aleve” at the same time, both are anti inflammatory drugs with similar properties and effects, you should try which one of those two works better for you and decide. Besides if you take both you will be increasing the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding which is a side effect of the anti inflammatory drugs as those that you mentioned.
