Dear Ask The Doctor: I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo about 4 months ago. I noticed I became increasingly anxious and irritable, and I asked my gyno if I could switch to another pill. She switched me to Loestrin24E. I wanted to skip my period, so I started the Loestrin immediately after my last week of OTC without taking placebo pills. The first week on Loestrin, however, has been a total emotional nightmare. I cry at without provocation and get very angry and irritated over nothing. I stopped taking the pills last night and today has been a total nightmare - I can barely find the willpower to get out of bed. Could this be a possible side effect of the Loestrin, or did I mess with my hormones by starting a new pill so hastily?
Dear Ke: Hello, I understand your worry your mood change possibly due to your contraceptive Treatment.Certainly mood swings have been described with certain contraceptives; Loestrin 24 Fe is one of the contraceptives that cause this side effect.
