Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, I was curious what allergy medication I am able to take while on Zoloft? As of now I only use nasal spray. Thanks in advance! Dear Kevin: Any antihistamines or nasal decongestants should be safe to use for allergy symptoms while taking Sertraline (Zoloft). It may be best to avoid the older antihistamines diphenhydramine, chlorpheniramine, and brompheniramine due to their sedating effects. Newer agents such as loratadine, desloratadine, cetirizine, and fexofenadine are associated with less drowsiness and unwanted sedating effects. |
