Dear Ask The Doctor: In Dec. of 09 I had epidural injections for arthritis in my neck. In Feb. 2010 I had rotator cuff surgery and have been taking hydrocodone for pain. I now have severe lower back pain. Is this a common side effect and should I see a doctor right away? Dear Larry: You sever lower back pain is likely the result of arthritis as well and not a side effect of the hydrocodone.YOu should have xrays done of your lower back to confirm the diagnosis. Your orthopedic surgeon will be then be able to come up with a treatment plan to address your pain. |
