Dear Ask The Doctor: Dear Doctor, I am an Indian Living in Kuwait. I am suffering from hemorrhoids for the past 1month. Today I visited the doctor here and i was advised to take 2 Daflon 500mg tables 3 times a day for the next 15 days (along with a antibiotic for 5 days). My question to you Sir is, will 3000mg of Daflon affect my health Please advice. Thank You in advance . God bless Best regards Santosh Dear Santosh: Micronised purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF) Daflon 500 mg, an oral phlebotropic drug, improves venous tone and lymphatic drainage, and reduces capillary leakage by protecting the microcirculation from inflammatory processes. In clinical trials, compared with placebo, the duration and/or intensity of individual symptoms of haemorrhoids improved significantly with 3 tablets of MPFF 500 mg twice daily for 4 days then 2 tablets of MPFF 500 mg twice daily for 3 days. Two tablets of MPFF 500 mg daily for 60 or 83 days reduced the frequency, duration and/or severity of acute haemorrhoidal symptoms and improved the overall signs and symptoms of chronic (recurrent) haemorrhoids compared with placebo. Therefore in the short-term a maximum dose of 3000mg per day is not excessive. |
