Dear Ask The Doctor: I wanted to know if it is safe for me to take singulair after i have taking alkaseltzer plus mucus and congestion.i have asthma and i try to prevent attacks by keeping my congestion down but i feel like im starting to get sick.
Dear Charena: I understand your concern about taking Singulair with Alka Seltzer. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old. Alka Seltzer is just an effervescent that is taken as an analgesic and decongestant. There shouldnt be any interaction between those medications; I dont see any contraindication in taking them. |
