Dear Ask The Doctor: I heard about the bacteria becoming resistant, if i continue taking my prescription as normal will I effectively kill all the bacteria? Dear Chris: I understand your concern about missing a dose of your antibiotics. I agree with you that not complying with antibiotics might cause resistance in future infections with the same bacteria. You must take the full course of antibiotics as prescribed even if the symptoms go away completely. Failure to take all of the medication as directed may result in the infection worsening or spreading to other parts of the body. I would suggest you to continue with your treatment, this would help reduce your chances of resistance. |
