Dear Ask The Doctor: Can i take more metformin 500mg to bring my sugar leval down. i take 1 in morning and 1 at nite Dear Elwood:The maximum daily dose of metformin is 2.5g (2500mg) per 24 hours. If your sugars are not controlled on your current prescription of metformin, it may be possible for your family physician or endocrinologist to increase the dose of your metformin. However I would not alter the dose without consulting your physician first. |
