How long will swelling last after taking Prednisone?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I was given 20mg prednisone, 3 tables for 4 days, 2 for 4 days then 1 for 4 days. During this time one of my feet swelled up along with my leg to up past my knee. How long can the swelling last after completing the medicine?

Dear Trina: There is no timeline in how long the swelling will last. It can vary person to person. Give it approximately at least a week though in my estimation.
