Dear Ask The Doctor: I had an abortion on Friday 11 March, however early Friday night i stopped bleeding and have had no more blood since. Only a brown discharge. Is it advisable to go back to the hospital? Dear Kristen: There is no need to return to hospital. The 'brown' discharge is actually blood mixed with other tissue and this too will stop shortly. Persistent bleeding after an abortion is a sign that a complication has occurred and warrants a return to the doctor. |
