Genetics and Blood Typing in newborn

Dear Ask The Doctor: If one parent's blood type is O negative, and the other parent is O positive, can their child have a bloodtype of A positive?

Dear Craig:

If both parents have O blood type, their child would have only O blood type as well.

The O blood type is a recessive trait and therefore a parent with a O blood type could only pass on the O gene to their child. If both parents are O blood type then, both parents would pass on the O gene to the child.

I hope I cleared your doubt.
