X-rays while egg is getting fertilized

Dear Ask The Doctor: If the egg is in the process of getting fertilized, and I get an X-ray of my abdomen during the process, will the radiation kill any chances of me getting pregnant?
Dear Jalene: The chances of the x-ray harming your baby is very minimal. Usually nothing needs to be done and the pregnancy continues normally. You may see a radiologist to determine the strength of the radiation you received. Most of the x-rays are less than 5 rads and are safe. |
