Dear Ask The Doctor: How accurate is ultrasound probe? i was told 4 weeeks pregnant. Dear Rose: In patients with uncertain last menstrual periods, Ultrasound evaluation to estimate the gestational age must be made as early as possible in pregnancy to arrive at a correct dating for the patient. However there is an error of +- 5-7 days, for more accurate estimation HCG levels also known as the pregnancy hormone should be measured as well. I hope I cleared your doubt.
