Dear Ask The Doctor: I have had my period now for eight weeks . I have been on the pill injection for five years and did not have my last one in August . My periods are very heavy and I have a pain always on the left of my stomach like a shooting pain . Dear Zara: A prolonged period for 8 weeks is a cause for concern. You should see your doctor or if possible a gynecologist for a clinical examination to find the cause of this prolonged bleeding. Treatment to stop the blood loss is important to prevent further complications like anemia, fatigue, infection etc. |
