Dear Ask The Doctor: What does it mean when i have two peroids a month. My peroids last for 7 to 14 days. Then 2 to 3 days i will start my peroids again. Im not on dirth control pills. I have 2 kids. Dear Janet: Hello, I understand your concern about your irregular menstrual period. There are many different causes that can be related to your condition. It could just be an unusual event, but if it was present for the last 3 or more cycles I would suggest you to consult a Gynecologist to rule out other possibilities. Surely a more detailed clinical history and exam will be needed to rule out anatomic causes such as Leiomyomas or polyps and more commonly endocrine abnormalities that could cause hormonal imbalance or Dysfuntional uterine bleeding after excluding all other possibilities. One of the possible treatments offered could be Oral contraceptives to help regulate your cycles and/or other choices depending on the exact diagnosis. I wish you the best. |
