Dear Ask The Doctor: I just had a baby on november 28th me and my fiance have had unprotected sex three times since then. im not sure if i am able to get pregnant yet. we are not trying. i dont know if i have had my period yet or ovulation or when i should get it. so when should i start ovulating again or when should i expect my next period if i have a 28 day cycle
Dear Clarissa: It is very difficult to say whether your periods will return to the same as it was before pregnancy. This may be different from mother to mother. A breastfeeding mom may not get regular periods until after 5-6 months. If you are bottle feeding your baby, our periods could come back as early as six weeks after your baby's birth. That means you may be fertile again about four weeks after giving birth. I would advise that you start using contraception if you want to avoid getting pregnant. |
