I never have periods off birth control |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 22 years old, when I am on the birth control pill I have regular monthly periods, But When Im not on birth control, I don't get a period at all. My husband and I have been trying to have kids, and I have been taking at home ovulation kits by first response, and for two months I have been getting a No. I am beginning to worry, is it possible that I cant have kids? Dear Rl: I do understand your concern. After the use of a birth control pill, it usually takes 6-8 months for the periods to become regular. Most doctors will begin testing for medical infertility problems only after 6 months of attempting to conceive. Certain things that may help in your case are : i) Lifestyle modifications - Regular daily exercise improves the health of your reproductive organs. ii) You should both avoid alcohol, smoking, caffeine and drugs as they have negative effects on fertility. Women should also take a daily prenatal vitamin to ensure they have healthy stores of iron and folic acid for the demands of pregnancy. iii) Plan sexual intercours : The best time to be intimate is between days 12 and 17 of your cycle assuming you have a regular 28 day cycle. However, pregnancy can happen anytime in the cycle. iv) De stress : Stress can have negative emotional and physical consequences. |
