Dear Ask The Doctor: So, last month I have two periods each lasting the normal time span of my regular period (5 days) and both were heavy. I usually start the first week of each month, but my second period came two weeks early. It is now the 12th of the next month and I still haven't had my period for this month. I had been doing the Insanity workout with a friend, but we haven't been doing it for a few weeks. I am sexually active, but I haven't had sex in about a month and we use protection to the max. I'm 19 years old. So, I ws just concerned about me not getting my period this month, help? Thank you.
Dear Rachel: Extreme exercise or workouts may alter your periods. Since you had your periods twice the previous month, your periods may be delayed or it may be possible to not have periods at all this month. Menstrual cycles are regulated by a delicate hormonal balance, which may be affected by a lot of factors like stress, emotional disturbances, excessive weight changes, extreme exercise etc.
