Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been bleeding and spotting on and off since the 2nd week of this month. My regular cycle was supposed to start on the 22nd, and i now feel like my regular cycle is starting today. Whats wrong I need an answer? Dear Danielle:There may be some hormonal imbalance which is causing this problem. Many a times stress can lead to these changes. If this is a one off episode and other wise your periods have remained regular i would advice you no to worry about it just yet and monitor your subsequent cycles carefully. However in case you are sexually active and have engaged in sexual intercourse then i would ask you also to just rule out a possible pregnancy with ahome pregnancy test. However if you do infact have heavy bleeding then please contact a health care professional in person for further testing. If it infact does continue then it could be Polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid disorders, etc. All the best. |
