Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 23 years old and have 2 children already. I have not had a Period in the past 2 months I have taken Multiple pregnancy tests all were negative I know I am not pregnant. My cycle has never been regular and I have went 11 months straight without a period before. I have started to have other symptoms as well such as mood swings more frequent urination and migranes. is it possible that i could be going through menopause.
Dear Brittany: Menopause is highly unlikely at this early age. Possible reasons for delayed periods could be severe anemia, stress, extreme weight changes, excessive exercise, ovarian cyst etc. Frequency of urination may be due to presence of urine infection. You may want to get yourself examined by a gynecologist for an assessment of the underlying cause. A healthy diet including iron rich foods, vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products is highly recommended for a healthy body. Aerobics, meditation, yoga or other reaxation exercises may help reduce stress.
