Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi I was on warfarin for a year. I stopped taking it in September. My first period after I stopped taking it was 10 days long (much longer than normal). This month my period is over a week late!! This is NOT normal for me. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant, but I took a pregnancy test and the result was negative(I didn't take the test in the morning). What could be going on? I do have some slight pregnancy symptoms. Dear Heather: I would advise you to repeat the pregnancy test and maybe even get a blood test for to be sure of pregnancy. However, if pregnancy is rule out, stress is another cause of irregular or delayed periods and they often become regular again on there own. If your periods are still not regular, I would advise you to consult your doctor for further examination and tests. |
