Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, My period is normal usually and comes on the 28th of the month. I missed my period last month - December, and I have had negative home tests and 1 negative blood test. I have also had cramping for a few weeks now and weight gain. We are trying ro get pregnant and I have been off the pill for about 6 months now. What should I do next? Thank you!
Dear Lindsey: I realize that you are worried about getting pregnant. Usually doctors will not immediately test you for underlying problems causing failure of pregnancy. Your doctor may want to observe you for a period of 6 months before beginning any treatment or measures. To increase your chances of pregnancy you may increase the frequency of intercourse during the ovulation phase, which usually occurs from day 12 to day 17 in a regular 28 day cycle. Also you may use an ovulation kit predictor. |
