Dear Ask The Doctor: I have missed my period. I also just recently got married and have moved across the US. It is a week late. I have had intercourse with my husband, we have used a condom, but sometimes we have not. I have not had sore nipples, I have just had to urinate a bunch, especially at night and I have felt random cramping like my period is coming on but nothing. My back has also been hurting at random times too. I have also been feeling a little more fatigued than usual. Can you help me? Dear Jessica: There are many causes of a missed periods. The first cause that one need to rule out is pregnancy. I would suggest that you do a home pregnancy test to determine whether you are pregnant or not. If a pregnancy test is negative, other causes such as stress, increased exercise or decreased calorie intake are other possibilities. Your increased urination could also be due to a urinary tract infection or bladder cystitis that could result with similar complaints requiring you to take antibiotics in the presence of a urinary infection. |
