Missed Period |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been taking birth control for about for years now. I am in the military and currently deployed. My period has been acting wierd ever since May. I took multiple pregnancy tests and all of them came back negative. This month when I thought my period was going to start, it never started. What could be the cause of this? Dear Lindsey: There are several conditions that might cause your menstrual irregularities; certainly the first one to rule out is pregnancy. If you are not pregnant, other causes of missed or irregular periods include:
All of these conditions can cause hormonal imbalance and delay your menses, since you are in the military I assume that you are under augmented exercise. I would suggest you to consult a gynecologist if your menses are still late for a more detailed evaluation and measure of your hormones levels. |
