Dear Ask The Doctor: I haven't had my period since December. The beginning of this month I went to the doctor and she said that I am not pregnant. She did give me the pill (Loestrin 24 Fe). I am unsure when I should start taking the pill, and how long it will take for it to take affect? I still have not gotten my period, so I don't know if I should just keep waiting for my period to come, or what?
Dear Michaela: You have missed your period for almost two months. It is possible that you are pregnant. Loestrin is a contraceptive pill ( Birth control pill). I recommend you to do a pregnancy test ( Blood test) first, and if it was negative you can start Loestrin. If your doctor has already verified you are not pregnant and you have had no unproteced sex since your last visit, you may start Loestrin any day (i usually reccomend starting on a Sunday)
