Dear Ask The Doctor: I had a cysitis 2 to 3 weeks ago and around then my period was due but never happened. could the infection have caused it to be late? or could it have been the anti-biotics? or maybe the implant? Dear Emma: It is unlikely that an episode of cystitis has lead to a delay in your periods. This would be more because of the implant if you have one. Many a times periods are delayed due to physiologic causes like a temporary imabalance in hormonal level. I would advice you to see you family physician if you do not get your period over the next few cycles too. All the best. |
