Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello, im 2 weeks late on my period and i thought its maybe because i could be pregnant, but last week i took 2 home pregnancy tests and they both came up negative so im rather confused. can you help me? Dear Kelly: Home pregnancy tests check the level of beta hcg hormone in the urine. These tests are best used abut a week after a missed period or after that. You could try the home pregnancy test again to rule out a pregnancy for sure. There are also other causes of missed periods like Polycystic ovarian syndrome, stress, thyroid issues etc and thus you will need further testing to exactly evaluate the cause of the same. Please consult your family physician in order to conduct further testing . All the best. |
