Dear Ask The Doctor: I always had irregular periods usually 35 to 45 days. I got my period on April 11th and was suppose to get it the Week of May 14th to 18th but as of now June 6th I still didnt get my period. I took a Home Pregnancy Test on Friday June 3rd. My last sexual intercourse was Thursday June 2nd. I am a little anxious because me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant again, and very stressful when you see the results as negative. I have made an appointment with my OBGYN on Thursday June 23rd. I have been getting cramps here and there getting discharge with an odor like fishy or tangy smell not all the time sometimes. I am sometimes feeling nausea especially like this morning. Please help.
Dear Galavish: You should have yourself checked by a doctor because you may have a vaginal infection. You may do the pregnancy home test again but this time make sure it is in the morning (first urine upon waking up) because this is the most accurate. The pregnancy might have been too soon. If you have a family doctor, please yourself checked promptly to have blood pregnancy tests done and also tests to confirm the vaginal infection. There is a chance you might be pregnant and infections (urinary tract and vaginal) can cause abortions in early pregnancy. I wish you all the best and take care always. |
