Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi. I am 21 years old. I usually get my cycles between 18th and 23rd of every month. Just because my marriage was put up on 20th may 2011, i was advised to take Regestrone tablet from 15th to 20th april 2011 and i got my periods on 22nd april. In the same way, I was advised to take the tablets in the month of may from 15th to 2nd of june and i got my periods on 3rd june. But I havenot got my periods yet for this month. After marriage, we had safe sex and once ( in the 3rd or 4th week of june) we had a direct intercourse. Now, am afraid that i might become pregnant. Are there any chances that i may get my regular periods. please advice. If what you meant with direct intercourse was unprotected intercourse (no condoms, no birth control pills) then there is a chance you could be pregnant; however, it not unusual to have menstrual irregularities upon starting birth control pills. If you still do not have your period 2-4 weeks from now, you may do a home pregnancy test. Better do this in the morning (first morning urine upon waking up) since the urine has the highest amount of detectable hormones during this time. If you are really worried, you may see a doctor and request a blood pregnancy test. I do hope this helps. |
