Dear Ask The Doctor: I am almost 2 weeks late. I have taken 2 home preg test and both have come back negative. I am always on time. About a week before my expected period I had light spotting for 1 day. Then the week of my expected period I had clear discharge that was very thin for about a week. It has stopped now. It was odorless but there was a lot. I am not on any form of birth control as I am trying to get pregnant. Is there any way that I am pregnant or could stress have just caused me to miss?? There is still a possibility you are pregnant although, it is true that stress can also cause menstrual irregularities. Home pregnancy test kits are best done in the morning (first morning urine upon waking up) since the urine has the highest amount of detectable hormones during this time. Most of them are not 100% accurate though. To be sure, go see a doctor and request for a blood pregnancy test since this is more accurate, or better yet, an ultrasound.
