Dear Ask The Doctor: 2 weeks ago I had clear gel like discharge. I am now 3 days late with blood in my stool. I am not on birth control pills anymore (the past 3 months) but have been extremely careful with a condom during each time of intercourse. Dear Colleen: Thick white discharge during the beginning and end of the menstrual cycle is normal if it is not accompanied with fever, burning sensation while passing urine, itching. If there is itching or you develop a fever you may need to rule out infection, esp. yeast that causes similar whitish discharge.You periods may be late due to stress and does not require any investigation unless it continues for more than 6 months. Blood in stool may not be related to your periods and could be because of constipation, hemorrhoids or anal fissure, if it continues for longer, see your doctor. To see if you're pregnant you may need to do a urine pregnancy test. Hope the information is helpful. |
