Birth Control Effectiveness |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: When does the average birth control pill become effective after the first day you start taking it? Dear Shelly: THe majority of birth controls become effective in pregnancy prevention within 7 days of your first pill. In my practice, I routinely advise patients to use a back up method of contraception (condom) for the first month. Better safe than sorry. I hope that helps. |
