Dear Lisa: The pregnancy hormone starts to produce around 7 to 10 days after ovulation if fertilization has occurred. It is now possible to detect small amounts of pregnancy hormone with the newer home pregnancy tests, as early as 7 to 10 days. However the sensitivity may vary, as different women produce varying amounts initially that may give false negative initial test results.
