Does having a botox injection hurt?

Dear Ask The Doctor: My girlfriends and I are really considering getting botox to cure our wrinkles but we are scared of the pain. Does having a botox injection hurt?

Dear Heidi: Many of my patients describe the feeling of a botox injection to that of an insect bite. You must remember that every single person's pain threshold is completely different. I would say that 99% of my patients find the botox injection procedure to be very quick and painless. My other suggestion is to make sure and have an actual physician inject you with the botox and not just some assistant which a lot of clinics do. You and your girlfriends should not be scared at all of this procedure and I highly recommend it to get rid of any unwanted wrinkles that you have.
