No period after stopping birth pills

Dear Ask The Doctor: HI I Have stopped taking Microgynon 30, and a month later still no period, is this common ?

Dear Charlene: Going of the pill can make your period irregular and it may take some time to get back to normal. I would not be concerned at the moment but would advise a pregnancy test just to be sure that the missed periods is not due to pregnancy.
