Dear Ask The Doctor: I recently tested positive for Chlamydia and was treated. I finished my antibiotics Thursday, and my boyfriend just started his on Saturday. On Sunday, we had protected sex, but the condom broke. Is it probable that I now have Chlamydia again and my antibiotics were in vain? Dear Alyssa: You can definately get reinfected with Chlamydia anytime even though you were treated for the same earlier. However since your boyfriend was already on medication the chance of transmission could be less. However I do advice you to get rechecked for the same as you may need a repeat dose of the antibiotics. All the best. |
