Dear Ask The Doctor: I took zithromax for chlamydia, but i have trouble swallowing pills so i crushed the 1 gram and put it in some yogurt. Immediately after eating some of it i felt sick so i stopped eating it. the next day i ate some more, and i finished it on the third day. Is the treatment still effective if i took the medication over a series of 3 days? Dear Ashley: This is a difficult question . In my opinion the treatment may not have been as effective as mixing it with food or taking it over divided doses may lead to decreased efficacy of the antibiotic and thus can lead to poor treatment of the chlamydia. I would advice you to get retested to check whether the infection still exists or just repeat the dose of zithromax. All the best. |
