Dear Chevon: Actually, treatment of Chlamydia will differ on different geographic areas. In some countries, Chlamydia may have higher resistance and will need stronger antibiotics; in some Azithromycin is still the first line. You can still take 1 g (4 250mg pills) as single dose but make sure you will get retested after a month. This is very important to know if the strain of Chlamydia you are having is either sensitive or resistant to Azithromycin. If re-checking it would still yield Chlamydia, stronger antibiotics should be prescribed. Also, avoid sexual intercourse before you can get re-checked because you may transmit the disease or Chlamydia may be re-introduced or you might acquire other STDs, you never know.
