Dry foreskin

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 32 year old male and recently after everytime my wife and I have sex, the foreskin on my penis dries out cracks and bleeds. This is a new developement, we do not use any kinds of products for sexual pleasure. Is this normal?

Dear Lupe: This is not normal. Your dry skin could be a manifestation of Xeroderma. Xeroderma literally means "dry skin". Treatment involves the use of emollients and moisturizers. The condition may develop spontaneously or be caused by the use of a number of medications or certain illness such as Diabetes, Hypothroidism and Psoriasis.
